Dave and I did not have any plans for Easter this year, which turned out to be great because we got to go to the annual Bring Your Own Big Wheel (BYOBW) race. BYOBW used to take place on Lombard St, but apparently the residents had a problem with all the extra people hanging around their homes, so they threatened to sue the organizers (come on, if you live on Lombard St, you’re asking for it!). I managed to fight my way to the front, even after a very short woman made a rather catty comment about how hard it is to be short in crowds (I squatted down to take the video, so I don’t think she was talking about me). I also managed to not get hit by any of the racers, not a small feat, as you will see. This has to be the funniest event I have ever seen! The race was on the real crookedest street in San Francisco, Vermont St. Crookeder than Lombard, but not nearly as picturesque. The funniest thing I saw that day was racers tearing around the corner and their child-sized plastic big wheel completely collapsing beneath them, leaving the racer sitting on the pavement, looking forlorn. Anyway, enjoy!

This looks like such a fun event! And everyone is in short-sleeves, I’m so jealous. My parents (and your parents too) still have snow in their yard…. Boo!
It’s too bad Californians don’t have a sense of humor!
