Nikola’s mom left this morning, and he handled it very well. I don’t think it’s sunk in yet that she’s not coming back tonight. We have had a busy day so far – my friend Sara gave me a ride to get Nikola and his things this morning so afterwards we took Nikola to the farmer’s market. Then we brought Nikola to the apartment and he bonded with the cat (a little too much, the cat got kind of annoyed and gave Nikola a little swat with her paw – our first tears of the day so far). Dave and I then took Nikola to the store to buy a soccer ball and then to the park to play. After the park we went to the store and bought some apples, then went home and made apple pie. That’s the day so far – we are hanging out watching The Muppets Take Manhattan until we start making dinner. Hopefully bedtime will go smoothly as well – however I think the fact that mom is not here will really kick in then……….we shall see!
