What safari is complete without lions???
Band of Brothers
Of course he stops when I start filming!
Walk till you can’t walk no more.
Hiding in the grasses is ok when you have a lookout.
We walk, and you get out of our way.

Come on guys, this is a blog! It only works if people make comments, otherwise I feel like I’m talking to myself. Here is the second video of the Masai children singing. Not as good as the first, but still pretty darn cute!

Part of our safari was a visit to a Masai village. The Masai are obviously used to having tourists and greeted us with songs and a tour. At the end, they showed us the primary school nearby and the children sang for us too. Here are some pictures and videos of the Masai village.
The Chief of the village was our guide, he is on the right. The chief told us several times that he has three wives and many children!

Masai women - they sang for us when we arrived. They also make and sell the souvenirs at the village.

This little boy followed me around the village and at one point either he or his friends grabbed a pen right out of my purse! One of the tour guides saw them and started yelling at them, and I didn’t know why. Then the guide kind of sheepishly hands me this pen and says, “they took it out of your purse.” He looked so upset, but all I could do was laugh!

This baby goat was only a day old - so cute!!!! He was crying for his mother the whole time we were there.

Here are the videos of the children singing:
Ok, just one video for now, can’t get the other one to upload. Enjoy!

Ok, I’ve been back for over a week now, but I’ve been trying to upload all of my photos to meet all your demands for pictures! I’m going to post some here that have good stories to go with them, starting with the amazing safari cheetah pictures and videos……..Now, most people would be satisfied with just seeing African animals in person, but not our group. Oh no, we demanded more from our guides and boy, did they deliver!

It all started with this - an excited burst of Swahili over the radio and our guide zooming to this spot, then pointing and saying, “there’s a cheetah - it’s hunting.” And all of us grab for the binoculars for the chance to see the speck in the distance as more and more safari jeeps gather in our area. Eventually the cheetah runs away and disappears, much to our disappointment - but wait!
Over there, is that the cheetah coming towards us? And is that a gazelle in its mouth?????!!!!!!! At this point, general mayhem breaks out in the jeep with people dodging around each other, trying to get a picture. But as if that wasn’t exciting enough……….

The cheetah stops, drops the gazelle in front of it (right in front of our jeep), and starts to bark………..and then…………
The baby cheetahs arrive!!!!!

So cute, even with a blood mustache!
You can see more of my pictures at www.flickr.com/photos/meggieb20. Enjoy!!!!

Chelsea, who Meg works with back here in San Fran, was kind enough to send along a few other shots of Meg that she had taken. I’ll post more shots from Chelsea over the weekend.
