Bedtime went smoothly - things got a little goofy for awhile, but then Nicky settled down and went to sleep. And what a sleep! I don’t think a 9.0 earthquake would wake that boy!
We let Niki play with one of the cameras and here are his pictures:
Nikola made a fan at daycare today which he was very proud of:
He also took some time tonight to bond with the cat:

Nikola’s mom left this morning, and he handled it very well. I don’t think it’s sunk in yet that she’s not coming back tonight. We have had a busy day so far - my friend Sara gave me a ride to get Nikola and his things this morning so afterwards we took Nikola to the farmer’s market. Then we brought Nikola to the apartment and he bonded with the cat (a little too much, the cat got kind of annoyed and gave Nikola a little swat with her paw - our first tears of the day so far). Dave and I then took Nikola to the store to buy a soccer ball and then to the park to play. After the park we went to the store and bought some apples, then went home and made apple pie. That’s the day so far - we are hanging out watching The Muppets Take Manhattan until we start making dinner. Hopefully bedtime will go smoothly as well - however I think the fact that mom is not here will really kick in then……….we shall see!

Hey all! Sorry for the delay in posting the rest of my videos from Africa, but I have been in Georgia (the state, not the country) for the past 5 1/2 weeks attending a mandatory training class for work (pictures from that experience later!).
We saw lots of elephants on the safari - including a mass migration across the Mara of at least 100 elephants all traveling together. Our camp was on the side of a hill that the elephants would walk up at night and back down during the day. They followed the same pattern everyday, so we usually saw them coming down in the morning and going back up at night.
There were lots of elephant families with little baby elephants that were soooo cute!
