My turn to talk about our “Nikola experience”. I had a lot of fun. Nikola is very very active and wore me out in only a few days. I seriously need to get back into shape and soon. The good news is this has begun.
I never imagined how much energy it takes to watch a 3 year old. I must say that I do appreciate the job Mom and Dad did raising three boys that much more.

Bedtime went smoothly - things got a little goofy for awhile, but then Nicky settled down and went to sleep. And what a sleep! I don’t think a 9.0 earthquake would wake that boy!

Day 1 - So far, so good
Sunday, July 13, 2008 – 4:38 pm
Nikola’s mom left this morning, and he handled it very well. I don’t think it’s sunk in yet that she’s not coming back tonight. We have had a busy day so far - my friend Sara gave me a ride to get Nikola and his things this morning so afterwards we took Nikola to the farmer’s market. Then we brought Nikola to the apartment and he bonded with the cat (a little too much, the cat got kind of annoyed and gave Nikola a little swat with her paw - our first tears of the day so far). Dave and I then took Nikola to the store to buy a soccer ball and then to the park to play. After the park we went to the store and bought some apples, then went home and made apple pie. That’s the day so far - we are hanging out watching The Muppets Take Manhattan until we start making dinner. Hopefully bedtime will go smoothly as well - however I think the fact that mom is not here will really kick in then……….we shall see!
