Today we lost a very special member of our family. Nora Block (“Nini”) was my great-aunt on my mother’s side. Dave and I named Norah after Nini, with a slight spelling variation. She was an amazing woman who will be missed a great deal. Nini turned 98 in January and while she spent the last few months very sick and not herself, she will always be remembered as an incredibly lively and opinionated woman who loved her family and was very much loved in return. In my 29 years, there are very few family events that I recall that Nini did not attend. While my Norah will not get a chance to get to know her Nini personally, she will certainly hear a lot about the woman whose name she carries.
Good-bye, Nini. I love you and miss you, but am happy you are with Uncle Herm, Auntie Ann, your brothers, and your parents now.
Since we have been posting so many pictures to Facebook, we have been sadly neglecting the blog, so hopefully this video will make up for it! Norah is now six weeks old as of yesterday and she’s certainly done a lot of changing since we brought her home! She weighs approximately 10 lbs, 10 oz (according to our scale), so she’s gained almost 3 pounds since she was born. She is so much more awake and alert, which has been a lot of fun! She looks at faces a lot and even smiled at me yesterday! She’s starting to suck on her fingers a little bit, but still doesn’t quite understand that those hands are hers. We generally only have to get up with her once during the night and one night she slept for almost 8 hours! It’s nearly impossible to remember life without her at this point, she has already brought so much joy to our lives – we can’t wait to see what comes next!
